It's Friday, Are You Feeling Retro?

Rosie sends along this link to Pin Up Girl Clothes, a site with fun retro clothes, many of which come in plus sizes. I'm tempted by this halter; you might like the turquoise Greta Garbo dress.

Sadly for those of us who wear larger sizes, the vinyl sailor costume only goes up to a size eight. At least we can get stripper shoes!

Thanks for posting the links to these places. That Greta Garbo dress is absolutely gorgeous, but I don't think it will look quite as good on me as on that model LOL. I'm going to wander around over there for a while, though.

Can you actually walk in shoes like that? :)

They also have the Greta dress in olive. Smokin'.

OK, girls, I need help with the problem I'm clearly going to have for the rest of my life.

I am ALWAYS between sizes. Designer, Gap, it matters not. So since I'm currently a 12, and since those dresses look like they're fitted to appear painted on (I'm looking at the Marlene one also -- hurray for stretch satin -- thanks Mo), do I get the L (8-12) and bust out if I gain an ounce, or do I get the 1X (12-16), spend a fortune to have it tailored so it won't sag, gap, and bag, and then pray that I don't gain another ounce (smothers sardonic laughter) once it fits?

Help!

This is why I don't shop. But those dresses are HOT.

Yipes. I remember some of this stuff on its debut. Some styles really are timeless (choke).

Squee! My link got posted. I'm famous!

The woman who told me about this website DOES wear the crazy shoe styles they sell. Though she has to get her husband to drive if she's wearing 5" heels. Personally I had to back slowly away from the glittery ruby slipper mary-janes. Thich had a much more modest heel.

I am alarmed by the shoes. I don't do heels well.

Then again, the last time I wore four-inch heels (aged nineteen), I fell down a spiral staircase because of them, and the boy who caught me at the bottom is now my husband. So perhaps they have their uses. I wasn't wearing them to attract the attention of boys, mind you, or at least not in that manner.

Hello -

For a size 12, you'd fit into either the Large or the X-Large. The Large will be a more snug fit, though. The dresses are made from a stretch satin and have a fairly wide latitude. If you want more ease in the fit, go with the XL. Worst case scenario, you can exchange it out if need be.

Oh, and our Large is NOT a "size 8". It fits a range between 8-12. I am a size 8 and can actually fit into the size Small (snug!), Medium (Just right!), and the Large (slightly big but still wearable).
