Kelly Clarkson Sued
The makers of four weight loss pills were sued by the FTC today for making false claims. I shudder to think of the spam I will get if I actually put the names of the companies in here. I will disguise them! They are: Zenadrine EFX, Fourteen-A-Day Weight Smart, CortiNeverheardofit and Anna Nicole Smith.
"[T]he FTC investigation found that the marketers of [one of them] had a study that said those who took a placebo actually lost more weight than those taking the pill. 'They not only didn't have studies to support the claim, they actually had a study that went the other way.'"
I also heard that one of these products markets the ingredient known as Kelly Clarkson, but the article didn't mention it.

Well, but the negative publicity might hurt them more. Maybe not, but one can dream, right?

That LA place was recently successfully sued. I don't know what they were fined, but it wasn't enough to put them out of business certainly. Their new commercial features Whoopie Goldberg.
Most people won't hear about the lawsuit, but a lot of people will see their new commercials.
Life is better and more realistic without diet pills. Thanks for posting this information for us

I was surprised at first to see Whoopi on the LA Weight Loss commercials, but then I remembered that she was a spokesperson for Slim-Fast a couple of years ago. She made some anti-George Bush comments at a John Kerry fundraiser and lost the job when the company gave her the boot.
