Industry Of Fat

It is worth remembering that weight loss is a multi-billion-dollar industry:

"Marketdata estimates that the entire weight-loss category will reach $44.6 billion in revenue this year, about $1.5 billion of which will go to weight-loss centers like Jenny Craig and Weight Watchers."

I was kind of impressed that the new Jenny Craig ad execs actually went on the diet to land the account. It doesn't mention if Jenny Craig still does prepackaged food. I can't imagine subsisting entirely on prepackaged Jenny Craig food. Talk about punishing yourself.

From what I understand, Jenny Craig does still have the pre-packaged foods. Personally, I like the idea: no more meal planning, or cooking, or worrying about calories, or stuff like that. Just heat and eat! The whole idea of not having to make those decisions is very tempting.

Yeah, they do still have prepackaged food. My mom just re-joined up with Jenny Craig. I don't understand how someone could subsist off nothing but fruit, vegetables, and prepackaged food in miniscule sized servings. And aside from that, what's going to happen when you get off the diet? You aren't going to know how to eat "real" food - you'll only know how to eat prepackaged food.

Ugh, doing "The Jenny," as my sister and I referred to it. The prepackaged meals were convenient, yes, and some days that was great...but once you'd been through the three-week or so rotation of entrees, oh god, the boring BOREDOM. I grew to hate those little frozen bastards.

And I've done the Jenny Craig thing three times. Yep, National Merit Scholar talking.

On a different note, I always thought it would be great to have a heavy metal hair band consisting entirely of fat guys, called "JeniKraygg"...with umlauts and lightning bolts and devil horns and stuff in their awesome logo.
