Scrubs
Unlike the folks at Big Fat Blog, I have never liked Scrubs. Nothing political, I just find the humor too broad and the characters irritating and it doesn't make me laugh. But anyway, this joke sounds like your typical mean-spirited fat joke. But then again, Scrubs always goes for the easy laugh, in my opinion.

Mel Brooks said it best, "Tragedy is when I cut my finger. Comedy is when you fall into an open sewer and die."
Yes, disgusting.
However.
I think what the writers were doing were giving a pretty accurate representation of what a typical "normal"-weight person thinks having sex with a fat one would be like. Remember that episode of Ally McBeal from the 90s when she has this flash of getting in the car with a huge man and it tips over sideways?
No, it's not right. But I think more of it is exploiting people's stupidity. Unfortunately, most of the television watching audience is stupid, so they just think it's funny.
The thing is, I LOVE Scrubs. But it's mostly satire, so the jokes often mean the opposite of what they are, if that makes any sense at all.
Well, and the thing is, first, "Scrubs" is all about the exaggeration for comic effect and the fantasy sequences -- and, what made a difference to me is, they clearly showed that Turk had the TIME OF HIS LIFE with the big woman. Huge smile on both their faces. I really didn't take it as a fat joke, at all, and I tend to be sensitive to them.
I finally watched this episode and, despite my love for this show AND this particular episode, still cannot justify this joke. It was pretty bad and not funny -- except to shallow men, I would think.
i LOVE Scrubs. it is the ONLY actual tv show i really watch. (i never actually watch it on tv, i just watch the DVD's) but that flashback did bother me a bit. and it seemed like he was faking the 'time of his life' thing to me...but i still LOVE Scrubs SOFREAKINGMUCH.
