Et Tu, Heidi Klum?
I've recently become completely addicted to Project Runway, so was disappointed to see this item about Heidi Klum. It's pretty short and straightforward:
"The leggy supermodel has come under fierce fire after lashing out at a contestant on Germany's Next Top Model, telling her she's too big to make it in the fashion industry. 'Top designers need only girls with dream figures,' she told the girl, who weighs about 102 pounds."
Apparently there was such a backlash about this comment that the show might get cancelled. I'm curious if any of you saw the girl in question and noticed if she had any extra fat on her at all; the standards for models are absolutely different, that's why they're models, right? I think it's interesting to watch on Project Runway how some designers do prefer the bony models, but others prefer models with a little curve and shape to them.
And by the way, I hope you've read all the comments on the below post, because they are funny and fabulous. I love you guys.

Eek. I can't believe that even in model land 102 lbs is considered "too big." I'm guessing the girl must have been tall. I mean right? Models have to be what, at least 5'7"?
I've spent a lot of time in Germany in the past (a year undergrad, and a couple of years on and off in grad school)and it sort of makes me happy that the Germans expressed such outrage over this (and I think rightly so). I didn't grow up there, but my impression, from being exposed to television, film, magazines, etc., that girls seem to have pretty healthy body images over there.
You can take a look at her (she is 5' 10):

That is from germany's biggest tabloid.
They had the letter of a mother with an anorexic daughter critizising Heidi for making other girls sick as well.
And an inside report of one of the contestants, coomplaining about being kept hungry by the show organisators.
That link didn't work for me, maybe this?

I can't tell if it's the right gal, I don't know enough German. Sorry!
Toccarra (sp?) has. She made the COVER of King magazine and is doing Cathy what's-her-face's (one of the first plus-size models; she's tall and blond but I can never remember her last name) plus-size shows during fashion week.
And let us feast on the irony of that.
Hee.
