Here's Another One!
I wanted to post this link a while ago but then it got archived. Anyway it's the "President Bush is overweight" story that made the rounds a little while ago, when he was revealed to have a BMI that is 26.3.
But the interesting part of this article to me was the suggestion that a BMI of 25 is not a magical cutoff point where anything below that is equally good. In fact, the end of the article goes on to point out that a BMI of 25 might actually be optimal, and that being too far above or below this BMI can be dangerous to your health. Very interesting.

Wow, that article actually scred me, made me worry I had gotten too thin! I made Weight Watchers Lifetime 3 weeks ago (yes, I'm "that skinny bitch" now) and my BMI is now 22ish. I google'd though, and did find BMI vs. mortality graphs here, toward the bottom. Interesting stuff. Definite incentive to stay in the BMI of 20-25 range.
The "having a low BMI is dangerous" argument also needs to be taken with a grain of salt, because although there is a correlation between low BMI and mortality, a known contributing factor to this is that many serious illnesses, like cancer and AIDS, cause wasting. But certainly, the point that BMI is just a guideline is a valid one. Also, a lot of physicians and researchers think that BMI recommendations should be different for men and women (men are more muscular, so a fit man is a lot more likely to be "overweight" than a fit woman).

George W. Bush is a fatty-fat fatso.
