Fat And Happy
The article uses a different coordinating conjunction, but we'll ignore that, shall we? Michael Berman has written a book called Living Large: A Big Man's Ideas on Weight, Success, and Acceptance about being a man who struggles with weight.
"'First of all, it's a subject, like many personal subjects, men don't like to talk about,' he said. 'Women are more willing to share the pain that men aren't. Secondly, fat men do have an easier time than fat women both in employment and social life. … When's the last time you saw an average-size guy with a fat woman?'"
It is nice to hear a man's voice on the issue of size.

You're right, Mo, it is. But - and I say this because I'm genuinely wondering, not because I'm being my usual "ask the hard question" self - what are we supposed to think when one of D.C.'s grand liberals - he worked for Mondale, for God's sake - would not have dated a larger woman, according to his book, even when he himself was at 225+ pounds?
I'm also asking in light of some other posts you have on the blog this week and my growing knowledge that men and women just process information differently (how, given what I've learned about the difference between men's and women's neurostructure, men have been permitted to run the world thus far is another question). Are we just supposed to sit back and smile and forgive them what, on a human level, is IMO a supremely hypocritical judgment?
Hi
Mr. Berman is not what I would call Fat Accepting, but I talk to a lot of people in Fat Acceptance that do not have ideal Fat Acceptance.
What I think Mr. Berman gives to Fat Acceptance is a Fat Man's viewpoint and that he talks about being fat and male beyond the fact that Fat Men are more accepted. I am so tired of people in Fat Acceptance that have nothing more to say about Fat Men, pass Fat Mens greater acceptance. What is the point of saying anything if that is all you are going to say?
William
There are people who are genuinely happy to be fat. My wife was 120 pounds and unhappy on a diet all the time. Now she eats whatever she wants and is 270 pounds and happy/fat. http://fatgirlfriends.vze.com
