Clothes For Overweight Kids
This article has positive things to say about new clothing options for plus size kids. I especially feel for the girl who showed up to school wearing the same shirt as a gray-haired cafeteria worker. (No offense to the lunch lady, but man, that poor kid.)
An expert points out that this is more, not less, likely to help kids like themselves and lose weight. "If misery made people thin, there wouldn't be any fat people." Man, isn't that the truth.

I remember being a kid and a teenager, always overweight. Shopping was never fun. Not to mention, I shopped with my grandmother, who always things she knows what fashions are in style ("that's how the kids are wearin' em now", I think it was mostly her eyesight, and not her sense of fashion though). It wasn't until my college years when I began seeing junior/plus size sections in stores. I'll never forget the day, I was shopping with some friends in a mervyns department store, and there were cute clothes, in MY size. It was like HOORAY! and DAMN! why didn't they have this when I was younger all at the same moment.

I think this needs to be posted somewhere and BANGED into the heads of those knuckleheads who say "it's OK to shame fat people into eating less."
On with common sense! Faster, faster, die, you evil freaks without empathy!
Hee hee hee.
So anonymous, and any one else that can give me some input.
I am considering starting a line of tween clothing for overweight girls.
Is this being done?
And if so by who, and what stores have a department for it.
Are there specialty stores that cater to this nitche?
Can anyone give me some statistics on what percentage of tween girls are overweight?
micaheal K. Yes there is a store making clothes for overweight teens. It is called Torrid, sister company of HotTopic, which both can be found in most malls.
I have a 10 year old daughter that has been sitting on the line between plus and regular fitting clothes. The plus size fits only if it has the adjustable waist (landsend.com has them but not in any styles she likes). She likes Bobby Jack and there are some cute tops in the plus size but not any cutesy pants.
JC Penneys has a very good selection of plus size for girls. They have the Bobby Jack sweats/pull on pants with jackets, jeans, t-shirts, etc. The selection was very impressive over the holidays.
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE start a range for overweight kids in the UK. M is 8 and wears size 12-14 adult tops to fit round the middle, but then the shoulders are wrong, and sleeves too long. Elasticated skirts are ok - if you can find them - but trousers & jeans are impossible - to get the waist size they are miles too long, and the cut is all wrong. There is a huge gap in the market, just waiting for someone to exploit. Overweight girls still want pretty clothes !!!!!
please make a cute clothing line for teens in california... We are all getting fat because of the technology in Amercia... All the time kids are on Myspace and eating fat food and are 2 lazy to do any workouts...
Sadly there is no Torrid where I live. I love looking at cute clothes and shopping, but at the same time I hate it because when I want some jeans, all I can find is a size 5 or lower. How sad is that? I am not a tiny stick, I am an overwieght teenage girl who wants to be able to buy some clothes when I go shopping with my friends, instead of waiting outside the drssing room while they try on their extra smalls. I don't have many stores to choose from because of I where I live, we don't have much. I live in Springfield, Missouri. I tried K-mart and the junior clothes are too small, but the plus size is too big! I looked at women's and all of the clothes looked like something my 55 year old aunt would wear. My parents won't let me do online shopping. Any suggestions?
