No F-ing Way!
More plus-size clothing options are in the works at retailers like Macy's, Land's End, and TJ Maxx, who are all expanding their plus-size offerings. I guess people have finally figured out they can make money by actually making clothes that are cute and fit correctly. Who knew? Here's the most exciting part of the article in my world:
"Instead of keeping lingerie and undergarments in the back of the stores, Lane Bryant is redesigning its store format and creating side-by-side boutiques. One store carries clothing. The store next door is named Cacique and features lingerie... When shoppers walk past the Cacique stores they'll see displays similar to those at Victoria's Secret, where slim shoppers go when they want to buy something special and feel pretty."
One thing I still buy at Lane Bryant almost exclusively is lingerie, because it's the only place I can get a bra that fits (unless I buy it online). I hope they expand their sizes; I can't be the only chick that wears an F-cup, can I?

It's about time! I like how they mentioned that there needs to be more variety, and that not all of us are the same shape. I'd really like to know who decided that the bigger you are, the taller you are - I can have a big butt and be under 6' tall, it does happen.
Did you notice the subtle fat barb in the beggining? It might be a typo, or a Freudian slip, or someone thought they were being cute:
"It's grown so fat that in the past five years that revenues have jumped 50%."
Any other article and that would have said "fast." What do you think, intentional or not?
I've come to think the standard bra sizes are rather limited. How many women when properly fitted are really in that popular B-D range? Personally I have the problem of being a small-chested fat girl, so I've had to find size 42A bras. Difficult!
I just pretend that the H stands for Harmony!
I am actually peeved at LB right now, because right now you can only buy through a DDD at the stores, and when the website runs out of the larger cup sizes (F,G,H), they don't replace their stock. I would buy more balconette bras, if they were available in my size!
Despite my love/hate for Lane Bryant my consistent LOVE is the BRAS!!!
I'm a 40DD. As you know, there's nothing cute out there in that size except at the ol' AB. I don't need five pounds of polyester with thick seams to hold up my boobs.
My favorite bra is the underwire with the stretch cotton cups!! THEY RULE.
F cup. I think I'm a bit jealous, having been shaped like an isoceles triangle (or perhaps a rhombus, I have skinny ankles) most of my life.
Richard, welcome to the world we girls live in. I'm 5'6" and I have to order 34" inseams; clothing stores for women tend to think there are no shapes other than tall and skinny or round and short-legged.
Harmony, I'd call them up and gently remind them they have customers waiting. Has worked for me in the past when they don't have stuff in stock.
Hey... if they manage to have attractive bras with panties that match, I'll be happy. I put myself through college (12 years ago)working in the lingere department of a major department store. We DID sell really beautiful bras in large sizes, but for some reason they never had a matching panty. Drove me NUTS! What rule said if you wore above a 38DD you wouldn't want matching panties?
I wish Lane Bryant would expand into smaller size bras. Back when I was a 38D, I had a convertible (halter, crossback) bra from them that I LOVED TO DEATH. It was the only convertible I've ever had that was actually supportive. Now I'm down to a 34D and I have a heck of a time finding bras at ALL, much less supportive ones.
I'm an HH cup and, wellk, yeah. I buy my bras from http://www.bravissimo.com and pay through the nose but they are cute!
I was just at LB and the girl insisted on measuring me for their bras even though I said they don't carry my size. She actually said "I can't belive how small you are around the ribs when your bust is so large." *sigh*
I am glad lane Bryant is making cute stuff. Everytime I pass Victorias Secret I think wow I realy loe that.. The you go in to try on and its too fucking short. I'm not a big girl I'm just tall at 5'10 and at a size 14 Im a border pluss size. Everything is tooooooo short or too small. Victoria never has anything to fit my boobs I have the same problem one of the other people commented on Im a 34 around the ribs and an e cup. Good f'n luck to find one of thoes. I do my bra shopping on Amazon.. once I find a brand and style I'll order like 8 of them
Oh and for bras I don't know if any of you have the issue but when you have big tatas you have big ummm nips and most large bras when you find them aren't padded at all. I like enough padding in my bra so that when I get cold the whole world doesnt know. I know comfort is no underwire and flex but out of experiance With my breasts being large I need underwire to keep them from slipping under my bra and to keep them up and apart.
I don't know if anyone is still reading this, let alone anyone from Britain, but I've recently made a discovery: the "Gorgeous" range carried by Debenhams. I dislike the name, but the bras are comfortable, give a nice shape, and don't look and feel either heavy-duty or overly frilly. Triumph aren't bad, either.
I'm a 36E. I don't even feel my breasts are particularly big, except when I try to buy a new bra and there's nothing that fits and doesn't look armour-plated.
Mo, believe it or not, check out the bras from that old standby, fredericks.com. Yes, Frederick's of Hollywood has some very pretty and supportive bras in F sizes, and they also have have a variety of pretty bottoms - briefs, bikinis, thongs, etc. - in plus sizes; I know that a number of them at least go up to 3X; some may be larger, but I don't remember. You can get bras in everything from the usual black/beige/white trio, to embroidered lace. I'm waiting for a black and red lace bra to arrive; I'll let you know what the quality is when it arrives. I can already vouch for their lace boy-shorts, however.
Mo, the Frederick's bras arrived; one in black lace over red satin, one in red satin embroidered in white. The fit is freaking fabulous. How many times have you gone into a fitting room with a stack of bras in "your" size, only to find none of them fit? Yeah, me too. And now, two different bras that fit me right out of the bag. The styles I bought were the "full-figured" version - they don't look orthopedic in the least. They're low-cut, pretty and supportive. My suggestion: go for the "full-figured" version, and, most importantly, pick one of the bras that has three pieces shaping the cup - the bottom of the cup should have a more-or-less vertical seam dividing the bottom part of the cup into two pieces, and there will be a more-or-less horizontal seam dividing the top of the cup from the bottom. This is very, very important for proper fit, shape, and support. And, JJ, Frederick's carries bras in 34D, as well.
