Pass The Gatorade Chocolate Milk

"As for regular hot chocolate and its potential as a health food, consider this: Researchers at the University of Indiana have discovered that chocolate milk is the perfect post-workout beverage... athletes recovered as well after drinking chocolate milk as after drinking Gatorade, apparently because chocolate milk contains the optimum ratio of 1 gram of protein (supplied by the milk) to 3 grams of carbohydrates (supplied by the chocolate)."

Awesome.

I've found hot chocolate soy milk with a bit of instant espresso mixed in to be a great winter pre workout drive to the gym beverage.

But who the heck would drink Gatorade as a post-workout recovery drink?

What an odd study. I wonder if it was commisioned by the American Dairy Association (Got Research?)

The refined sugar in the Chocolate Milk mix would make it a poor choice for post exercise.

The simple sugar would cause insulin levels to spike, retarding the release of Human Growth Hormone which is the most important factor in muscle recovery, growth and many other benefits of training.
